CASE STUDY:
Maricopa County, Arizona

In 2018, the City of Scottsdale Fire Department requested an innovative system in its bid for ambulance service. Maricopa Ambulance responded with basic life support (BLS) ambulance coverage with two EMTs on every ambulance with a Scottsdale firefighter to serve as the advanced life support (ALS) first responder and accompany the patient to the hospital to ensure continuity of care. Maricopa Ambulance then provides transportation for the firefighter paramedics to rendezvous with their engine.

Maricopa Ambulance built strong relationships after bringing ambulance service competition to Central Arizona and has partnered with fire departments in Scottsdale, Glendale, Goodyear and Surprise to cover a population of more than 710,000 with emergency 9-1-1 response.

“Maricopa Ambulance has trustworthy leaders and outstanding medical personnel whose word is their bond, and that goes a long way with firefighters. The leadership is from Maricopa County and understands the collaboration needed between fire departments and ambulance service to better serve our community.”

CASE STUDY:
Cobb County, Georgia

In 2001, Puckett EMS earned the EMS contract for Cobb County, Georgia, including the southwest portion covering the cities of Powder Springs, Mableton and Austell. Puckett EMS still holds this contract and provides ambulance coverage for approximately 350,000 citizens.

Puckett EMS partnered with Cobb County to design and implement a high-performance public-private EMS system to ensure the emergency demands of the community were met, improve the quality of patient care and decrease response times. Puckett EMS has never been out of compliance with response times and has successfully renewed the provider contract three times.

“Puckett EMS’ leadership and field personnel have met our contract requirements and exceeded expectations on communication, collaboration, clinical care and response time. Puckett EMS has remained in compliance with this contract for 17 years.”

CASE STUDY:
Loudon County, Tennessee

After Priority Ambulance started providing countywide service in January 2015, response times improved by more than 60 percent over the previous provider.

Priority Ambulance spearheaded an effort to create an EMS Council to review response data from the health care system and improve emergency protocols and efficiencies. Council membership includes the Fort Loudoun Medical Center chief administrative officer and emergency department director, local fire and police chiefs, Loudon County sheriff and select members of Loudon County Commission to review quarterly data.

Priority Ambulance provides CPR and first-aid training to first responder groups during in-service training days and started an annual medical and CPR training course for the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.

“The quarterly data has allowed us to reduce response time to the entire county. This was the outcome that was promised and expected when we awarded the contract, and Priority Ambulance has delivered.”
